These do not include complaints about the BBC, which are handled by the BBC in the first instance.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Morgan\u2019s comments, which ultimately led to his stepping down from the ITV breakfast show, drew 54,595 complaints in March but the presenter was\u00a0eventually cleared by Ofcom.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Faye Winter\u2019s behavior toward fellow contestant Teddy Soares on ITV\u2019s \u201cLove Island\u201d\u00a0attracted 24,921 complaints.<\/p>\n<div id=\"adm-inline-article-ad-1\" class=\"admz\">\n<div class=\"adma boomerang\" data-device=\"Desktop\" data-width=\"300\">\n<div class=\"pmc-adm-boomerang-pub-div ad-text\">\n<div id=\"gpt-variety-article-mid-article-uid0\" class=\"adw-300 adh-250\" data-is-adhesion-ad=\"\" data-google-query-id=\"CMeo_u-98_QCFQKSUQodOw0IeA\">\n<div id=\"google_ads_iframe_\/8352\/Variety\/ros\/mid-article_0__container__\">\n<div class=\"mediavoice-native-ad\" data-mediavoice-render-injection-id=\"564e060c-3504-4da4-bb99-53ff012ba78b\">\n<div class=\"plr-in-article-ad plr-clearfix\">\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Channel 5\u2019s \u201cCelebrities: What\u2019s Happened To Your Face?\u201d was third among the top five complaints, while the Oprah interview and another episode of \u201cLove Island\u201d were fourth and fifth.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Adam Baxter, director, standards and audience protection at Ofcom, said in a blog post that that the top five most-complained about programs account for 80% of all complaints and that social media also has its influence on complaints figures. Baxter wrote that the complaints \u201cserve a vital purpose for us at Ofcom. They help alert us to genuine concerns about what people see and hear.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">\u201cThese volumes demonstrate the British public\u2019s interest and passion for TV and radio programs, and shows just how important they are to the cultural fabric of our nation,\u201d Baxter wrote.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">\u201cThe judgments we make each day are often finely balanced \u2013 such as our highest profile case this year: Piers Morgan\u2019s comments on Good Morning Britain in the wake of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex\u2019s interview with Oprah Winfrey. But, given the importance of the right to freedom of expression, we only step in or take action against a broadcaster when we consider it necessary,\u201d Baxter added.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">This year Ofcom concluded 33 investigations and recorded 20 breaches of rules.
