Schonfeld\u2019s Jesus Lopez opened Horizontes Latinos, San Sebastian\u2019s panorama of recent Latin American features.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">A drill-down on the six titles making Ikusimira Berriak\u2019s 2022 cut:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><b>\u201cAnekumen,\u201d\u00a0<\/b>(Irati Gorostidi, Spain)<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">As Spain\u2019s transition to democracy comes under new and more skeptical focus \u2013 think Alberto Rodriguez\u2019s upcoming \u201cModelo 77\u201d \u2013 Gorostidi\u2019s bold debut feature examine the defeat of radical ideas of Spain\u2019s \u201870s as a group of libertarian militants abandon their factory work to set up a free-thinking commune in the mountains of Navarre. Observing the fragmentation of the workers\u2019 movement, the film chronicles the \u201ccomplex contradictions in the search for a reduced and isolated social model,\u201d Gorostidi comments.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><b>\u201cBandeira,\u201d<\/b>\u00a0(Jo\u00e2o Paulo Miranda, Brazil, France)<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Consecrated by \u201cMemory House\u201d \u2013 the only Latin American feature chosen for 2020\u2019s Cannes Official Selection \u2013 Miranda\u2019s \u201cBandeira\u201d was described when announced as a revenge thriller to be shot in the Amazon rainforest. The Ikusmira Berriak announcement confirms more details: The project turns on Jon\u00e1s, a young indigenous gold digger who\u2019s convinced that he\u2019s the chosen one to bring prosperity to his community. Brothers D\u00eddac (14) and Biel (12) bike along the banks of the Danube with their family until Didac meets and is seduced by the mysterious Alexander. As the Danube grows in leaps and bounds, Biel senses he is losing his brother.
