The film also racked up nominations for cinematography, production design and editing.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Despite being one of the last films to screen for critics, Spielberg\u2019s \u201cWest Side Story\u201d landed nods for Best Picture and for its direction. Ariana Debose and Rita Moreno nabbed nominations for Best Supporting Actress, while newcomer Rachel Zegler is up for Best Young Actor\/Actress. \u201cWest Side Story\u201d also landed nominations for its ensemble, and nods for its screenplay, costume design, production design, editing and cinematography.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">\n<div id=\"adm-inline-article-ad-1\" class=\"admz\">\n<div class=\"adma boomerang\" data-device=\"Desktop\" data-width=\"300\">\n<div class=\"pmc-adm-boomerang-pub-div ad-text\">\n<div id=\"gpt-variety-article-mid-article-uid0\" class=\"adw-300 adh-250\" data-is-adhesion-ad=\"\" data-google-query-id=\"COWcmOv14fQCFZuKdwodEsUMoA\">\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">\u201cDune\u201d and \u201cThe Power of the Dog\u201d picked up ten nominations each. \u201cLicorice Pizza\u201d and \u201cNightmare Alley,\u201d which was also one of the films to screen last for critics, collected eight nominations apiece, while \u201cKing Richard\u201d and \u201cDon\u2019t Look Up,\u201d earned six nominations.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">There were some notable snubs. Rebecca Hall\u2019s acclaimed drama \u201cPassing\u201d failed to land a single nod, while Judi Dench, who earned raves for her work in \u201cBelfast,\u201d and Penelope Cruz, another critics favorite for her turn in \u201cParallel Mothers,\u201d were shut out. Nicolas Cage was a surprise nominee for his work in the tiny indie \u201cPig.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">\u201cWe are so proud to be honoring this amazing list of films and the incredibly talented people who made them during this extremely challenging time,\u201d said\u00a0Critics Choice Association\u00a0CEO Joey Berlin. \u201cAll eyes are going to be on the Fairmont Century Plaza red carpet and ballroom on January 9th, when the biggest stars in movies and television will be gathered to celebrate the best of the best in entertainment this past year.
