The entire second season was then released at once on Aug. 18, 2021.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">The series told the origin story of Cuban American and future leader Elena Ca\u00f1ero-Reed as she enters the seventh grade. Told using the narration of excerpts from Elena\u2019s diary, the series followed Elena through the ups and downs of middle school which set her on the path to becoming the president of the United States.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">\n<div id=\"adm-inline-article-ad-1\" class=\"admz\">\n<div class=\"adma boomerang\" data-device=\"Desktop\" data-width=\"300\">\n<div class=\"pmc-adm-boomerang-pub-div ad-text\">\n<div id=\"gpt-variety-article-mid-article-uid0\" class=\"adw-300 adh-250\" data-is-adhesion-ad=\"\" data-google-query-id=\"CN6Lu-7n4fQCFce8dwodblEFNA\">\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Tess Romero starred as young Elena, with executive producer Gina Rodriguez appeared as grown up Elena. It also starred:\u00a0Selenis Leyva as Elena\u2019s mother Gabi, Charlie Bushnell as Elena\u2019s brother Bobby, and Michael Weaver as Gabi\u2019s boyfriend Sam. Recurring cast includes Jessica Marie Garcia as Gabi\u2019s colleague Camila, Carmina Garay as Elena\u2019s best friend Sasha, Sanai Victoria as Elena\u2019s classmate Melissa, Harmeet Pandey as Elena\u2019s friend Jessica, as well as Brandon Severs and Nathan Arenas as Bobby\u2019s friends Liam and Danny.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Pe\u00f1a created the series in addition to serving as showrunner and executive producer. The show was loosely inspired by her own childhood and adolescence.\u00a0Keith Heisler and Molly Breeskin are executive producers alongside Pe\u00f1a and Rodriguez.\u00a0 Unlike most shows on Disney Plus, \u201cDiary of a Future President\u201d was produced by outside entity CBS Studios in association with Rodriguez\u2019s I Can and I Will Productions.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">This is the second Disney Plus show to be canceled in the past few weeks.
