Lindo, who most recently appeared in the Netflix Western \u201cThe Harder They Fall,\u201d is the first actor to join the cast since Ali broke the news of the \u201cBlade\u201d reboot at the end of Marvel Studios\u2019\u00a02019 panel at San Diego Comic-Con.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Bassam Tariq (\u201cMogul Mowgli\u201d) is\u00a0directing\u00a0the feature project from\u00a0a script by\u00a0Stacy Osei-Kuffour (HBO\u2019s \u201cWatchmen\u201d).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">It\u2019s unclear who Lindo will be playing, but one strong possibility is Jamal Afari, who in the Marvel comics is the man who raised and mentored Blade \u2014 a.k.a. Eric Brooks \u2014 in the ways of vampire hunting when Eric was young. In the comics, Jamal is Black, but in the 1998 feature adaptation of \u201cBlade\u201d starring Wesley Snipes, the character was renamed Abraham Whistler and cast with white actor Kris Kristofferson. Marvel has not yet announced a release date for \u201cBlade,\u201d but observers expect the film to debut in the fall of 2023.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Lindo is coming off another critically-acclaimed collaboration with Spike Lee in Netflix\u2019s \u201cDa 5 Bloods.\u201d In the streamer\u2019s Western epic \u201cThe Harder They Fall,\u201d he plays Bass Reeves, the real-life lawman who was an inspiration for the Lone Ranger. The actor will next appear in Neil Gaiman\u2019s \u201cAnansi Boys\u201d series at Amazon, and he\u2019s set to make his directorial debut with the film \u201cJabari\u2019s People.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Ali recently made his\u00a0audio-only debut\u00a0as Blade in\u00a0a post-credits scene\u00a0in Marvel Studios\u2019 \u201cEternals,\u201d in which Blade (off screen) counsels Kit Harington\u2019s Dane Whitman not to pick up a cursed sword known as the Ebony Blade. While the scene would suggest Harington will appear in Ali\u2019s \u201cBlade\u201d movie, the former \u201cGame of Thrones\u201d star\u00a0told\u00a0<em>Variety<\/em>\u00a0in October that he doesn\u2019t know if that will happen.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">\u201cI have no idea,\u201d Harington said. \u201cI\u2019m assuming that that would be the case.
