In the next few days it will be working at 100%,\u201d Bukele\u00a0wrote. He noted that El Salvador\u2019s 200 Bitcoin ATMs currently \u201cwork perfectly,\u201d as well as\u00a050 Chivo-supported ATM in the United States.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Bukele went on to say that the bumpy rollout of the Chivo wallet was due to an early rollout,\u00a0stating:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cLaunching everything in three months was too much of a challenge and we made mistakes, but we are already fixing them and hundreds of thousands of Salvadorans can already use Chivo with no issues.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">According to the president, the Chivo wallet has amassed a total of half a million users since the app\u2019s launch last Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong><em>Related:\u00a0<\/em><\/strong><strong><em>Bitcoin investors are reportedly exempt from taxes in El Salvador<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">As previously reported, El Salvador launched the official Bitcoin wallet in\u00a0cooperation with Mexican crypto exchange Bitso, which said it was the \u201ccore crypto service provider\u201d for Chivo. The wallet subsequently faced major issues on launch day, going offline for maintenance due to capacity errors. Despite\u00a0Chivo\u2019s prompt efforts to fix the issues, many users have apparently continued\u00a0experiencing\u00a0problems with transacting or withdrawing from Chivo, with some users\u00a0claiming\u00a0that the app\u2019s functionality was \u201calmost zero.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Santiago Alvarado, director of cross-border payments at Bitso, declined to comment on the Chivo wallet\u2019s functionality to Cointelegraph, stating that the exchange \u201cis not at all involved with the front-end development of the Chivo wallet.\u201d\u00a0Alvarado added that Chivo\u2019s front-end provider is the Latin American financial infrastructure firm Koibanx, while the digital asset company BitGo serves as the hot wallet provider.<\/p>\n<div class=\"article-subscription-widget__form\" style=\"text-align: left;\">\nSource: Cointelegraph<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Just a week after Bitcoin (BTC)\u00a0became legal tender in El Salvador, President Nayib Bukele has admitted that the rollout of the state Bitcoin wallet was too much of a challenge.
