{"id":12455,"date":"2021-09-17T21:22:45","date_gmt":"2021-09-17T16:52:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blue-subtitle.com\/blog\/?p=12455"},"modified":"2021-09-17T21:22:45","modified_gmt":"2021-09-17T16:52:45","slug":"sundance-institute-awards-sandbox-fund-grants-for-science-storytelling","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blue-subtitle.com\/blog\/sundance-institute-awards-sandbox-fund-grants-for-science-storytelling\/","title":{"rendered":"Sundance Institute Awards Sandbox Fund Grants for Science Storytelling"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Sundance Institute\u00a0and\u00a0Sandbox Films\u00a0announced 12 filmmakers who will be in the next batch to receive support for their projects, along with eight films selected to receive unrestricted and non-recoupable grants totaling $255,000, through the\u00a0Sandbox Fund.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">The Sandbox Fund aims to elevate the voices of independent artists working in the realm of science and nonfiction storytelling as they produce and promote work and discourse the highlights that overlap science and art in the U.S. and abroad.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">The filmmakers and projects receiving grants are M\u00e1rton Vizkelety and Zolt\u00e1n Moll\u2019s \u201cGive Love Create,\u201d Lacey Schwartz Delgado and Mehret Mandefro\u2019s \u201cHow Free People Think,\u201d Tasha Van Zandt\u2019s \u201cA Life Illuminated\u201d and Eleanor Mortimer\u2019s Untitled Deep Sea Taxonomy Documentary. Also in the group are Leandro Listorti\u2019s \u201cHerbaria,\u201d Francisco Forbes, Ferran Romeu and Matthew Barton\u2019s \u201cScience Fiction,\u201d Natalia Sol\u00f3rzano V\u00e1squez\u2019s \u201cSpace Is a Monstrous Animal\u201d and Julie Forrest Wyman\u2019s Untitled Dwarfism Project.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">\u201cWe are thrilled to support these exciting voices in storytelling as they show how art and science converge over overlapping goals to reveal the world around us in beautiful, complex and challenging ways,\u201d said Hajnal Molnar-Szakacs, director of the Sundance Institute\u2019s granting program. \u201cThese diverse projects are playing with form to engage our curiosity and create meaning.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Jessica Harrop, head of production and development at Sandbox Films, said: \u201cScience storytelling does not have to be didactic or by the book.
