The honor is in recognition of Downey\u2019s services to cinema.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Downey was the founder, with producing partner Samantha Taylor, of Film and Music Entertainment (F&amp;ME) in 2000. He has more than 100 producer credits, including Agnieszka Holland\u2019s \u201cCharlatan\u201d and Fatmir Ko\u00e7i\u2019s \u201cElvis Walks Home.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">On the humanitarian front, Downey was part of the team that launched the International Coalition for Filmmakers at Risk (ICFR) at the Venice Film Festival in 2020. The ICFR aims to activate the film community\u2019s collective response to filmmakers who face political persecution for their work.<\/p>\n<div id=\"adm-inline-article-ad-1\" class=\"admz\">\n<div class=\"adma boomerang\" data-device=\"Desktop\" data-width=\"300\">\n<div class=\"pmc-adm-boomerang-pub-div ad-text\">\n<div style=\"text-align: left;\">\n<div id=\"aniBox\">\n<div id=\"aniplayer_selectJS756300416\">\n<div id=\"aniplayer_selectJS756300416gui\">\n<div id=\"av-caption\">\n<div id=\"av-close-btn-overlay\" class=\"av-pos-top-left\">\n<div id=\"av-close-btn\">\n<p>\u201cIn the difficult times which we are all experiencing,\u201d said Downey, \u201cWe have two major international tsunamis of human rights abuses in both Myanmar and Afghanistan. So I would like to accept this award and dedicate it to those film makers who are still behind bars in Myanmar. The coup of February of this year has locked up hundreds of artists and we all need to work tirelessly for their release. But equally, I also want to dedicate it to all those film makers in hiding in Afghanistan.
